Medea’s Weekly Tonic for Mind Body & Soul: True Power

Having confidence in yourself and your abilities comes from being aware of your own power. This week I became aware of beliefs about power lurking that had nothing to do with my true self nor what true power is. Societal beliefs, based upon illusions, claim that power is about having control over something or someone or “being in charge”. For those who have shyed away from that notion of power may have found themselves running from their own powerhouse or inner being as it were. At the heart of true power is knowledge – that knowledge extends to knowing who you are, believing in who you are, knowing your skills and abilities, knowing your worth, and much much more. Which brings me to another point, the misappropriation of words. Words have power, and so if their true meanings have been “rewritten” by those whose intentions were to make beings turn on themselves through use of language, then it’s time to re-educate ourselves in the true meaning of words and to reacquaint ourselves with those aspects of self that those words seek to inspire.
