Tune of the Day for Thursday 9 July 2020: Sweet Life by Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean’s Sweet Life is a reminder today of your purpose and to never lose sight of that. Drawing reference to Beverly Hills and the lifestyle of many of its inhabitants, Sweet Life, which was co-written by Frank Ocean with Pharrell Williams, shines a light on the superficial. As the tune goes: “Domesticated paradise, palm trees and pools, The water’s blue, swallow the pill, Keepin’ it surreal, whatever you like, Whatever feels good, whatever takes you mountain high
Keepin’ it surreal, not sugar-free…You’ve had a landscaper and a house keeper since you were born, The sunshine always kept you warm, So why see the world, when you got the beach, Don’t know why see the world, when you got the beach, The sweet life.” As you start to acclimatise to seeing the world through your soul’s eyes, there is a deeper awareness that reality and the truth is always within you and most certainly not outside of you. It’s also a reminder to check yourself if you find yourself “aspiring” to be something out there and that is not a reflection of your truth.

Tune of the Day is a divinatory series here on this blog where I share some musical vibes. Music is a very powerful tool with numerous messages to be gleaned from a tune, whether it’s got vocals on it or it’s purely instrumentals. It also has massive healing benefits too.

Whether you have an ear for music or are simply looking for divination of a different medium altogether, music most certainly moves us and offers guidance. And just like with tarot, music will have different meanings to different readers or in this case listeners. With each Tune of the Day I provide a general overview of some of the messages I’ve got from the track, but of course you may listen to it and get different signs or symbols. Enjoy!

Rosalind Medea is an Intuitive Reader and Counsellor. I enjoy music and I use it in my own life to raise the vibes, for the guidance it brings and for healing.
